Ah, the dentist. I used to HATE going to the dentist. We always had our appointments super early in the morning -- like 7:00am -- and since it was out-of-town we had to leave extra early to get there. I remember pretending to be asleep in the backseat, hoping that Dad would let me sleep and skip my appointment. It never worked, but to my child's mind it was worth a shot. There was nothing wrong with Dr. A -- he was a nice enough guy. But, I hated the fluoride treatment and finding out that I had cavities...which happened rather frequently.
But thankfully, my sweet little 3 year old has no such traumas associated with the dentist. Today was her very first dental appointment, and she was a real trooper! I thought perhaps she'd get nervous or upset, but that never happened. The hygienist did a great job explaining everything that she was going to do before she did it. I think that really helped. But, when the dentist came in she did get a bit shy. As for her teeth, she got a great report. So, hopefully, she won't have a mouth full of fillings like a certain parent who shall remain nameless. The visit ended with a new toothbrush and a trip to the toy chest. She walked out of there with a shiny new pinwheel. Unfortunately, I don't have the camera (it's with Brett in NY) otherwise I'd take a picture of her new toy and her "sparkly teeth" as she calls them.
