The other night, E asked if we could have a "snacky dinner." Of course, we already had something else planned for that evening, but it got me thinking about appetizers for dinner. Years ago when visiting my sister in Paso Robles, we had just that -- appetizers and wine for dinner. It. Was. Fabulous.
Obviously, I can't serve my kids wine at dinner, but appetizers are certainly possible. It's not an every night affair, but every once in awhile I think it could be great fun. My sister does this every New Year's Eve, and I think our family just might follow suit this year.
My mind has been spinning with yummy possibilities...
My sister-in-law has requested Crab Cakes. Oh my, they are tasty. Love, love, love them! They will definitely be on our menu.
Some really good bread, a selection of cheese and perhaps some Dipping Oil Mix might make an appearance as well. I'm contemplating making a Garlic Brie Bowl just like we enjoyed at that dinner in Paso Robles, oh so many years ago. However, I might tweak the idea a little and put the brie and garlic in my very rarely used fondue pot. That way we can enjoy melty brie a lot longer! Of course, the standard veggie tray with ranch dip will probably appear as well. My kids just love that! My stomach can't wait for New Year's Eve!

We might snacky dinner too. Then, I can pretend I am having a snacky dinner with you and that we are celebrating together, right? Miss you friend.
Love that you wrote you can give your kids wine on accident. I giggled a bit on that one. :)
Ha! That would certainly be interesting if I served them that. I fixed the typo. I miss you too. Hey, do you guys have skype? Maybe we can do that this weekend. Love and miss you!
